[gin talk] I have this suspicion that anything beyond basic gin like Beefeater and Gordon's is nonsense. As in: it's just industrial alcohol with stuff steeped in it (ie 'botanicals'). No reason to pay premium prices.
@joost I can taste a difference between The Botanist and Beefeater, but I wouldn't call The Botanist a "premium" it's cheaper than Hendricks (which I don't like) and only a few bucks more than Beefeater.
@KMAlexander - I’m not. Beefeater’s and Gilbey’s are why I thought I didn’t like rum. I don’t dislike Botanist, but if I want something that is heavily herbaceous, I’d choose Mythology Botanical. I like Empress on its own but it makes (IMO) a perfect G&T with Fever Tree Indian To ic.
I still remember what it smelled like when I poured my last fifth of Bombay Sapphire down the kitchen sink fourteen years, seven months, and eighteen days ago.
Also, @joost? Bless your heart.

Bombay martini for the cocktail hours
Plymouth martini for savory dinners
Bombay marini for deserts
Mmmmm could be.
I find I gravitate to these classic british gins.
