Ah, this reminds me of the fake “pull tabs for free time on dialysis” that turned into real “pull tabs for charity” when too many people fell for it.

Also I remember how much soda companies opposed the change to cans wher the tab stays attached because of “costs”. Clearly having those sharp things hanging around for decades just waiting to cut into people is worth saving Coke some pennies.

Chains made from these can be seen in the ceiling of the That 70s Show basement set, something I always appreciated. I pointed this out to a friend and she said "I saw those when I was little at my mom's boyfriends' houses." without understanding the implications that made of the kind of men her mother dated when she was young.

@urlnotfound When I was around three, my dad was working on his master's. We rented a house that had a pull tab curtain to separate the basement. I remember playing with it all the time.
