There are a whole bunch of recordings that Aadam made of Robyn Hitchcock which are still "nope we don't have these" for reasons no-one can recall. It's a shame, as they are amazing shows
@scruss I think it's because there are ten thousand tapes and only one or two guys digitizing them. It's probable the digitization team simply haven't reached the Hitchcock shows yet.
If they're working top-down through the archives it's all about Aadams's organization, which doesn't seem to be in either chronological or alphabetical order. For example a month or two back a whole pile of Eleventh Dream Day (and spinoff bands) shows were posted within a couple days, which I mainly noticed because they're my jam. They spanned a couple decades... and then a steady stream of unrelated bands for about a month and then a bunch more EDD shows, same time period.
fwiw the sound quality on the shows I've listened to are stellar. Some of the best audience recordings I've ever heard.
btw, for those who use Mastodon, the @livetapes@heads.social account posts announcements of newly-posted concerts available from a variety of accounts, including the Aadam Jacobs archive.
@ardgedee no, it's not that. They exist in digital form (I've had one since 2004, the year it was recorded). There's just a weird miasma of warnings about "don't copy this, Robyn has an arrangement with Aadam (?) / his record label (??) that these could come out as commercial releases some day". I know Robyn doesn't like sbd recordings, but this is something else. I've been part of the team archiving Robyn's recordings over the years.
Still, Robyn at Schuba's, 2004-11-06 as recorded by Aadam is sublime. It's a subtle matrix mix and would indeed have made a great live album
