I am proud to drive a Subaru which is pretty much a self-proclaimed brand for lesbians. I think in general lesbians think Nazis are assholes and I wholeheartedly rally behind that.
The thing about Leon's Tersla brand that really sucks is they were a huge catalyst toward automotive electrification. And their home energy backup products have played a critical role in demand management in energy-intensive markets like California and Hawaii. Fortunately these sectors have other players but I do give Tersla credit for forging ahead.
@samh This is a Subaru household as well. Although Japanese heavy industry did not have clean hands during WW II either, it's just not as notorious to Americans as the German companies are.
So you bought it after he called the Thai cave rescuer a pedo guy, and you bought his bullshit about full self driving, and his ridiculous fantasy about a mission to mars? Well at least you aren't a Nazi.
@cwhartman when I visited the BMW museum in Munich they had a small section regarding “forced labor”. It looks like they since expanded it: https://www.bmw-welt.com/en...
I knew Musk was a schmuck when I bought mine, but I didn’t know he was a Nazi, let alone a Nazi bent on taking my entire country to the cleaners. Now I’m trying to dump it on one of the many asswipes here in Ohio who thinks he’s cool while any of them still have money.
@UhhhClem That's part of the dilemma. I spent a chunk of years doing contract work for Big Three automakers and their suppliers and had enough exposure to their management to know how racist and sexist they are. Fascist? I got out of that a couple decades ago and the political map has shifted too much to know where they'd stand now, but yeah I would be more surprised if they're not now.
So I'm absolutely on the side of targeting Musk -- the nail that sticks out should get hammered down -- but in terms of making a moral choice with your consumer dollars? Man, just give up on cars entirely. Everybody running those industries are monsters. There are no exceptions.
also I am so not the kind of person to own a VW or skirt historical truths

Instead we got a BMW. At least they have repeatedly apologized for their association with Nazis.
