@carnivorouskale Judging from posts I've seen over the years: RatM has always had a contingent of fans who were absolutely shocked that the band was not as right-wing as they were.
I saw The Mentors in Madison, WI 1993ish and at setbreak El Duce asked if any of the young ladies in the audience wanted to join him out front. He would be laying on the sidewalk waiting for them to pee on him... He came back second set soaked.
@LocalStain Never saw The Mentors, never wanted to -- already knew their rep, didn't need to experience it. Have to confess though, years before then I had a chance to see a GG Allin gig (in a small loft space rather than a club -- it was a very intimate event so to speak) and seriously considered it for a hot second before realizing just how stupid that would be. Later reports confirmed it.
I know we regret the things we didn't do more than the things we did, but these are pretty solid exceptions.
