got to experience a stastical anomaly yesterday

This is just one of those "odd baseball fact" kind of events that only some people find interesting, but yesterday an unusual planetary moment occurred: an actual, measurable tsunami from a megathrust earthquake passed underneath a major hurricane/cyclone (Iona). Unfortunately there was no place I could find that had both the tsunami buoy sensors and a satellite overlay, shucks.
A tsunami in a major cyclone/hurricane has to have happened before - the timing with the Krakatoa eruption is right, for example - but this is the first time it's happened in the satellite era/last 100 years that I can think of.
Luckily the damage was minimal in most places, and locations with more damage had relatively low populations. Sadly though I suspect there was some psychological impact (due to PTSD) in Japan and in the long run significant damage may have occurred for getting people to evacuate certain cities in Hawaii during future events :( .
