Guerrila Art is Alive and Well in Rochester, NY

A vinyl sign is strung between two light poles. It reads

So, story time. There is an area of the City of Rochester where there are tons of bars and restaurants. Many of them cater to local bar flys, college kids, and suburbanites looking for the “thrill” of the big city. The building behind this was a fucking RITE-AID (may they forever burn in Hell) and then a Walgreens. Before that, it was a lovely, early 20th Century shop below apartments above sort of building that was prevalent at the time. IT was torn down to make the RITE-AID. And adjacent to this building (and behind the photo) is an early 20th Century theatre. A gorgeous space that fell to the exigies of the times and became a porn cinema.
The men listed on the poster are the type of person that will paint a building (the theatre which is behind this now vacant building) a violent shade a green because the Landmark Society blocked them from demolishing it and building yet another poorly crafted building.
I love that the hangers of the vinyl poster made sure not to attach it to the building because the Rainaldis are notoriously litigious along with being the very definition of greedy, venomous, slum-lord developers.
This very act gives me hope when I had lost it this past week. The many shootings, the anniversary of Sandy Hook, everything evil that is the current administration, and the death of Rob Reiner all “dominoed” me into a sinkhole. This act of defiance against the machine lifted me.

I truly enjoy when MLTSHPers share tidbits from place afar that I know little about.

Is there still a Nick Tahou's around? It's been 30 years and I still miss that stupid garbage plate.

I appreciate, echo, and +9 all the themes in your healthy and cleansing rant.

@tclancy The original is still there and as awful as ever. It's been a while since I had one. Although, coincidentally, I had a Garbage Plate burger at a lovely little neighborhood joint called Dicky's.
