I'm still on Usenet after all these years. My activity tapered off there for a bit because I don't mind paying for shit but it's picked up a bit more lately.

Some of the big boys have finally started taking stuff down though, not much luck with popular HBO shows, for instance.
You need a usenet source _and_ an nzb source. I'm a longtime customer of frugalusenet.com and eweka.nl for the raw feed, and I've got a half-dozen varied nzb sources to rely on.
I'm a usenet gal, we use Thundernews and I often tell people to check the subreddit for currently good deals. I pay by the block, not the month which is most cost-effective for us. I use nzbgeek.info for the nzb part.

t's nice because I just buy a block of a certain size, and just use it until it runs out.
For music - Bandcamp and Soundcloud are far-less-than-enshittified.
