when working on space jam, I took a still of the impact of batsuit against cliff (seconds later in this cartoon) and used it as the background image of our motion tracking slate frame, so every tracking artist had smooshed coyote with their slate info burned in for every shot I reviewed.
it was silly, but it was fun
