An 8-inch-diameter blue, green and white leatherette soccer ball with gaping holes torn in its exterior, beside a black rubber sphere with a hole torn in it and a shred of rubber next to it - apparently all destroyed by a wild animal - on a wooden table.
OMG this miniature soccer ball made him SO ridiculously happy.
Our son left it behind when he moved all his stuff to the Bay area last month, and Fergus seized on it and punctured it immediately (he adores balls and will chase any spherical thing anywhere, including among the legs of the dining room set, under couches, and up and down stairs that he is anxious about navigating).
We let him hang onto the leatherette remains for a week or so, playing furious games of tug with him, or just watching TV while he quietly and methodically shredded the cover.
When he finally finished disemboweled it last night *and* tore a hole in the rubber bladder, we yanked it from rotation and sent it to its final resting place - the trash can and (virtually) this series.
