New kicks...

Covet- cov·et /ˈkəvət/

verb

yearn to possess or have (something).

I have coveted these since I first laid eyes on them probably 15 years ago...

Alas ~$450* Frye Prison Boots weren't really in my budget. So I always said If I ever won the lottery, or inherited some money, I'd spring for a pair.

Since I'm not a gambling man unfortunately, it's the latter.

You all might remember my Uncle Steve passed on beginning of Dec. He was generous in a small but significant way on his way to the other side so I decided to splurge.

They are gorgeous.

And likely to last the rest of my lifetime and then some.

Cheers.

*Some also might rememeber little over 6 years ago I similarly splurged on a spendy pair of boots I'd been lusting after. The Grenson Brady. Those, depending on the fit and finish can cost upwards of $800. Mine were listed at $450 iirc but I paid a little over $250 due to sales and coupons.

To this day it's some of the best money I've ever spent. On footwear or anything else. They've lived with me for almost 6 months in the Amazon jungle and arguably look better now than when I bought them... but I digress...

Good boots are worth the money.

From Sir Terry Pratchett:

The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money. Take boots, for example. ... A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars. ... But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while a poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.
This was the Captain Samuel Vimes 'Boots' theory of socio-economic unfairness.
