My Cousin in the Washington Post

A big hairy guy who happens to be Jer's cousin speaks with a police officer during protests in Minneapolis in a photo printed in the Washington Post. The caption reads "Minneapolis Police officers confront counterprotesters after right-wing provocateur Jake Lang's anti-immigration demonstration outside City Hall on Jan 17, 2026" but this is misleading as the interaction was not confrontational at all.

My cousin Alex has been active in the anti-ICE protests in Minneapolis and wound up in the WaPo over the weekend. Sadly, the caption was misleading. He tells me that he and the officer were actually having a civil conversation about how the high rate of turnover in the force since 2020 gives MPD a chance to raise the bar for themselves and build a better relationship with the community they're supposed to be protecting and serving.
