Cakewalk prep
@roonie everybody brings a cake and puts it on a table, then they dance along the numbered path. The music is stopped randomly and a number is drawn. If you stand on that number you get to select any cake on the table as yours. After few cakes are selected they are served to the crowd. If you win late, you don't get the beat selection, but you're more likely to have cake to bring home.
Thank you. That sounds like great fun!
I'm guessing this is a traditional form of behaviour?
Created recently or does it go back some way?

@roonie a couple of friends did it for decades, growing it to a size that required renting halls. Then they left.
My wife wanted one for her birthday, so here we are.
I remember cakewalks in school fundraisers about fifty years ago. Parents would bring cakes and then everyone was welcome to walk (paying for the chance).

A cakewalk is something that is easily accomplished, or so I thought.
Some research uncovered a form of dancing, "...performed with comical formality.". Which I can only think of as a good thing.
You seem to be gearing up for something "else".
Please, may I/we have some more detail. Thank you in advance.
