Tatjana Wood
alt text
A page from a comic book. The grayish-green Swamp Thing, feet rooted in the soil and arms spread wide, stands beneath a lavender sky and orange sun, with scribbly herons and jagged, Spanish-moss-covered trees in the background.

Karen Berger, the founding editor of DC's Vertigo line: "So sad to share that legendary colorist Tatjana Wood has passed away at the age of 99. Her pioneering painterly touch graced scores of DC & Vertigo series. She was truly one of a kind and a special friend. May her memory be a blessing."
Wood, who started at EC and began her career at DC in 1969, was the colorist on Barr and Bolland's Camelot 3000, Grant Morrison's Animal Man, and (as seen here) Alan Moore's Saga of Swamp Thing, as well as hundreds of covers throughout the '70s and '80s. RIP.
