M’kiddo’s first 5k

The weather was perfect, the course was beautiful, it was well-staffed and so well-organized. A great race.

And freaking miserable.

My boy was maybe (MAYbe) 200ft in when he asked “How long IS this?! Can we stop?”
We then walked the rest of the course, with him crying and whining and fuming and so on.
Mostly I think it was because of the ol’ ADHD facing a big task that feels insurmountable, but in the end he was so proud of himself for finishing (I was proud of him, too, of course!) and has been FaceTiming basically everyone he knows to tell them that he finished his first 5k race. So good job Wesley, and hopefully it will be a long time before I have to do another one with him. 😂
