Florence Steinberg, Stan Lee's secretary and Marvel's fan club manager, was born on this day in 1939. She eventually quit Marvel when Lee wouldn't give her a $5/week raise; worked in trade journal publishing; became friends with Trina Robbins and a bunch of other underground comix folks; and published the important early indie comics volume "Big Apple Comix" (with work by Wally Wood, Larry Hama, Neal Adams, Archie Goodwin, and more).
