@scruss My first prepress job involved fontwheel phototypesetters. Apparently one problem these occasionally had was the characters creeping out of alignment due to a combination of the wheel falling out of sync with the strobe and vibrations. Don't recall it cropping up during my time, problems usually had to do with the paper feed or the washing-machine-sized hard drive.
10¼" glass disk spinning at 3600 rpm sounds like nothing could possibly go wrong, ever.
