St. Thomas Becket's Window
alt text
Thomas Becket's 8.9 m high by 2.18 m wide, stained glass window at Chartres Cathedral, in France. There is a lot of purple in this very detailed work, which contains large areas detailing the life and martyrdom of St. Tomas Becket.
At Chartres Cathedral, 8.9 m high by 2.18 m wide, the window has been restored twice, once in the 1920's, and then in 1996. I was doing a little study before reading TS Eliot's "Murder In The Cathedral,". Now I have learned it is not exactly an Agatha Christy type read, I will enter the reading of that play steeled.
