Mockup image for a part of "Dreams and Hallucinations"

This is a mockup of one of 12-18 images for my master's final project titled "Dreams and Hallucinations". The project is about white men in tech (such as myself) reckoning with the current job market and presence of AI. It follows a single character through a series of daydreams about career alternatives while getting his headshot taken.

The intention is to make the creation of these images as analog as possible. The photographs were captured on film. They've been scanned, and the intention is to print the final pieces using risography. I'm working on a line of text to include with the image. I plan to print these as flyers or posters and put them up in tech-centric areas of Barcelona. They will also be exhibited as a series at our degree show at the end of June.

I'll be experimenting with actual riso prints this week with a few different colors to see how the overlays interact and to get a sense of scale for the final prints. We're scheduled to present our projects to the faculty on June 4 and the show opens June 25.

Camera nerds <3 - Hasselblad 500c/m with an 85mm lens, shot at f8. The headshots use two speedlights, one with a beauty dish to the left and one bouncing off of a giant white card on the right. Shutter speed is 1/500 sec to account for pushing the Tri-x 400 to 1600iso (leaf shutter means I can use super high shutter speeds).

The work portraits were the same settings and a hand held speedlight unmodified. They came out looking like 1960's shop manual photos and I LOVE THEM.
