Big Prairie, Glacier NP
alt text
In the foreground, a bicycle loaded for camping is laid down on a rudimentary gravel road. In the mid ground is a mountain valley prairie which gives was to lodgepole pine. In the distance is the snow capped Livingston Range of Glacier NP. It's a very blue day with wispy clouds, especially on the left hand side of the image.
I got out on my first bikepacking trip since the beginning of May. I guess my lungs are mostly good post bronchitis, but holy dang, this one kicked my butt. Day one was 41 mi, with 3600 feet of elevation gain, a bunch of that landing in real punchy climbs. Not pictured is the downed tree mayhem I navigated just over half way in. Lots of hefting my loaded bike up and over (and under) way more downed trees that I was expecting. We had a pretty strong wind storm over winter with unfrozen saturated ground, AKA "a mess". Anyhow, I made it out and back, with this pic showing off the West side of Glacier NP, including the aptly named Big Prairie.
