Warhol stencil, 2012 (mother moving edition)

A canvas painted with a stencil of an iconic portrait of Andy Warhol sits against a wall in my mother’s basement. The stencil was painted four times on the same canvas, moved only very slightly in-between each color (cyan, magenta, yellow, black), and the resulting image tricks one’s eyes from a distance into thinking the image is slightly blurry.

In 2012 I made this large stencil of Warhol and did slightly-offset CMYK, for a sort of op-art feel. Physically hard to look at lol.

If I can fit it in my car in a couple weeks I’ll take custody of it once again (along with a few other pieces), because my mother is putting her home on the market and they’ve been sitting in her basement for years.

If I can’t fit them in my car? Oh well. That’s the way the cookie crumbles. Will either be free to folks or get tossed.
Thought I had some better photos of this piece, but turns out I only have a terrible making-of video I made and put on Vimeo right after making it, so this slightly-blurry screenshot is the best I have for now hahaha

@0y3ahSansAcut3 a nice thought, but then m’lovely wife would have to ALSO drive the 9hrs back to Nashville from Michigan. I don’t have plentiful enough a stack of old paintings or the extra energy/space back home to store them/pretend like the ancient and not-so-great works are likely to sell or are images we want hanging in our tiny little home.

But good thought.

I once took some paintings to a Goodwill.

@0y3ahSansAcut3 Good idea. Whether someone repurposes the canvas (done that!), or likes it well enough to hang, at least it gets a second life.
