Well, hello from Anacortes!

Trivia: Contrary to its name, not very Spanish.

When I was going to college in Bellingham, up the road from the ferry to the San Juans, I got it in my mind once to hike down there and camp. Most of my chosen trail was along a railroad, which turned out to be a huge mistake (not because of trains, but because of big rocks and too-new boots). I was able to limp onto the ferry and solo camped around the islands for a week, meeting a few fellow travelers and a fascinating biologist who shared some amazing fresh oysters with me, cooked over a campfire. It was a pretty magical visit, overall, lumped in with some early-20s social awkwardness. Still, fond memories, thanks for the reminder.
