I saw all the stacked guitars they had backstage when they opened for us way back sometime in the 80s, on their first tour (Death Valley 69?); when I heard about their gear getting stolen, I knew there was gonna be a problem recreating some of the songs; I’ve never again seen that many guitars without cases seemingly carelessly stacked up

i never saw them live until they toured on the album they made right after their truck was stolen (nyc ghosts + flowers). i really felt for them, but at the same time they really seemed like they were having fun with new gear and new setups. i've heard a few made their way back to them in the years since.
