i too can (at least kinda) demonstrate the march of port progress in my still-not-discarded mac laptops, from ~2006 to now, plus a special guest appearance.

that "stack" in the first two photos, from bottom to top, not quite oldest to newest for the sake of stability, with a left and right side view:

missing in action: my 2008 white polycarbonate macbook, which was stolen in 2011, and my ipad air 4, which was sitting on the couch

and, just for shits and giggles, photo 3 is the ports on the back of my somehow-still-existing 800mhz imac G4, which i keep meaning to plug in again just to have some vibes in the spare bedroom
