some new-old (old-new?) music next week

something coming down the pipeline, thought i’d let MLTSHP know about it first.

a few months ago, when i moved to a new laptop, i found an intriguing session bounce, labeled only “windmills - nick - acoustic”.

it turned out to be a long, uncut stereo recording of me in 2015, noodling through some song ideas for the windmills drummer while we took a break from recording a full band track. (photographic evidence above; i lulled him to sleep)

in between the noodling, the rambling, and the joking, there were a few songs i played all the way through in somewhat-coherent form. they were rough, but at least somewhat complete, so i thought “why not release ‘em?"

god bless my friend dereck, who engineered the original sessions. (https://www.quiethouserecording.com/) he not only found the original session files in his archives, but he was able to extract them, do some basic mixing/mastering, and turn them into usable tracks in less than an hour. bless him, he’s too good.

so! next week, probably on the next bandcamp friday, i’ll release a few scruffy tracks. listen for free, pay a few bucks for a download if you like ‘em. i’ll consider it motivation to work on new music, which i’ve been kind of missing (and lightly dabbling with again) lately.
