Gluing metal

Yesterday I spent the afternoon at a friend's studio documenting an absolutely massive build he's working on. Here he is welding one of many frame sections. That radius is 1/4 of one section. I believe there's 4-6 sections.

I was careful to frame the shots before he started welding and then used the camera body to shield my eyes. He has very good rhythm so every time he'd pause I'd check the framing quickly and then shield again. I wasn't sure how the film would handle the light. Thankfully I was using an SLR with a metal shutter, so the mirror and shutter curtain were safe. I know Leicas can get burn holes in the fabric shutter curtain if you're not careful with direct sunlight. Not sure about welding arcs.

Camera nerdery: Minolta XD-11, likely the 45mm f2, and either Kentmere 400 or Tri-X pushed to 1600 (this is probably the Kentmere).
