Mad Hatter peppers
alt text
Four images of a bright orange Mat Hatter pepper from various angles. It has four or five lobes that sort of fold under and meet in the middle. Kind of look like wrapping a cloth napkin around a plate of food.
Was excited for these to be ripe - was made to understand that they were approximately as spicy as a jalapeño. I know full-well, though, that even jalapeños are an agricultural product and vary from plant to plant.
These googly little guys are ZERO spicy. No capsaicin. But lots and lots of flavor - quite citric, honestly. Not as in acidic, but as in it tastes a bit of oranges. Was fun growing them, but probably won’t bother next year. Mostly was charmed by the pictures on the little tag and they lived up to that!
