Peter Hook and the Light, First Avenue

This was an odd show. I admittedly haven't followed any of the later New Order songs, and they were performing their 2001 album Get Ready, which i didn't know at all. They played the album then took a break and came back to play a bunch of older New Order and Joy Division songs, but the sound was so muddy i couldn't distinguish much until they started Transmission.

The other odd thing (and maybe this is typical for this band, i don't know), is that Peter wore a bass the whole show but barely played it (Craig Finn-like). In the terrible photo above you can see the band's bass player on the left, but he literally stood in shadow most of the time. The other band members would get fill lights but it's like they wanted to pretend there wasn't another bassist on stage. Odd.
