Reich's early stuff doesn't always have particularly weird time signatures. "Clapping Music" is in 12/8 which looks awkward but it's evenly subdividing four beats into thirds: "ONE two three ONE two three...". Once you get past having to deal with a different emphasis within the thirds of each beat ("ONE TWO THREE one TWO THREE...") and that the guy standing next to you is doing the same thing slightly faster or slower than you, it's a doddle!
