It's true!
I love telling people and watching their reactions.
Dramatic facial distortions. (Should we call Family Services?)
There is more to this story than just a headline, you'll be relieved to hear.
For those late to the party, my son and his wife have been trying for a baby for seemingly forever, without success, obvs.
They spent a small fortune on treatments including IVF.
They produced viable embryos but my DIL could not carry them to term.
Frustration, stress, emotional upheaval, we've had it.
My daughter puts her hand up, "Let me try."
After jumping through many many many hoops, legal and psychological, especially, first embryo is implanted and sticks!
In Australia, you are only allowed to try one at a time, you cannot exchange any money, outside of basic medical costs, and once this baby is born - it's a boy and he's called Angus, yes they are getting ahead of themselves, yes they are excited, yes excited is not a strong enough word - my daughter can still turn around and keep the baby.
My son and DIL will need to adopt him!
I cannot stress strongly enough how proud I am of all the participants.
Son aand DIL for staying strong for so long, Daughter for being so goddamned brilliant and even my SIL for agreeing to this as well.
It's a big deal for everyone and we're all pretty excited.
Can I mess with you for just one more moment, please?
My granddaughter, Lydia, has the same birthday as my DIL.
If things fall into place, my new grandson may have the same birthday as my daughter, the awesome person in whose womb he grew for 9 months.
As the Boss says, it will make it easier to remember all the birthdays!
