alt text
The construction phase of the 35-foot diameter Oroville Dam Diversion Tunnel No. 1 in Butte County, California. Two tunnels were built to divert water from the Feather River during the dam’s construction and then plugged at its completion in 1967. Today, the tunnels are used to discharge water from the underground Edward Hyatt Powerplant located near Oroville Dam. Photo taken Aug. 30, 1963.
