a poem about a plum
I remember in college, we read a book about Williams. His widow recounted unannounced visits by young and aspiring poets. I think Allen Ginsburg was one of these, at one time. Williams would let them in, read their verse, maybe offer a little advice. He was kind to them, but sometimes, when he had gotten rid of one, he would say: "The darned fool".
