When I worked at a live Butterfly exhibit, I would routinely get asked if the pupae/chrysalises, sometimes even while they were twitching, were real. I routinely said no, and that our CGI budget was incredibly generous.
When I wore my mustache as a proper full-curl handlebar, I would occasionally get "is it real" questions. I would reply with "we can both see it, it isn't imaginary". Them I would pull on it to show them it was real.
