Art With a Plug

I developed a workshop to teach art conservators about electricity and electronics with NYU's Institute of Fine Art titled "Art With a Plug". Originally a 5 day intensive, then a hybrid asynch/synch month-long online version for a few years, and now back IRL with the conservation team at the MoMA for the next 2 weeks.
Everyone builds a sound circuit on a breadboard, then moves to a fixed version on a protoboard. After using Forrest Mims' "Stepped tone generator" (aka Atari Punk Console) for the online sessions, I returned to the Cracklebox for this edition.
To my utter joy and surprise, every team got the circuit up and running in a little under an hour. They had to learn to solder, follow a schematic, work with a multimeter, and get comfortable improvising when recreating an artwork. Super excited to see what they do for next week.
