I've used sketchup for a long time but my 9-y-o is asking for lessons and I hesitate to feed her into an evolutionary dead end. My neighbor has a 3d filament printer as does our local library and I hope someday to get a resin printer! Do you recommend software for this sort of noodling in a format that lends itself to fdm? Teaching her seems like a jumping-off point for me to learn, too!!
@comotellamas I've used a lot of different modeling software, Rhino, Blender, FreeCAD, Sketchup, etc.
The one I landed on was Fusion360. There's some learning curve but it's very worth it for me, since I do a lot of things that are helped by parameters. I still use blender for some rigging and sculpting.
I've used a ton of slicers too. The one I just started using, and by far the best, is Orca.
I've wanted to get into resin, but I'm not willing to commit to the chemicals.
