An illustration in muted pastels. A small boat is passing through a lake in the fog. In the boat are two men, one in a mail shirt, brightly colored cape, and helmet, standing with his arms crossed; the other seated, wearing a cloak with hood and long beard. The boat is white with a gold animal, possibly a gryphon, at its head. Behind th boat, three swans are flying low over the lake. Immediately astern, a hand is thrust up through the lake, holding out a sword.
