There was a 30 year run where Detroit was a whirlwind of musical invention, starting in the 60s and peaking with its signature EDM. (There was also the noise scene in the mid-90s but, aside from Wolf Eyes and arguably Andrew WK, it was too underground to be world-changing the way Motown or The Stooges or Detroit Techno was.)
