Lee Bains III

Singer-songwriter Lee Bains performing solo at The Sinkhole in St. Louis
Went and saw former Dexateen and sometimes leader of The Glory Fires Lee Bains perform a solo show last night. Among other things, it served as a refreshing counter-punch to all of the Midterm Election bullshit (and just outright lies) being flung around the country right now.
Thanks to a slightly small Sunday night crowd, I got to chat with him a bit both before and after his set and, dang, what an incredibly kind man. I was introduced to The Dexateens back in 2010ish by a mutual acquaintance that lived in Lee's hometown of Birmingham, AL (some of you all probably know the name BitterOldPunk). Lee not only remembered Jon, but he was quite stoked to learn that I'll be sending a copy of his recently published book of poems up to Jon's new(ish) home in British Columbia.
Great night, great dude. If you've never heard of him, he put out a new solo live album ("Free South 2025") earlier this year, or for more a full-on experience, the Glory Fires "Live at the Nick" is an absolute ripper.
