state of the union

A gray fall evening: clouds, with pink on the horizon. In the foreground is a gas station sign, with a logo that looks like an American flag. In place of the glowing numbers that display gas prices are the letters “GOP”. For those outside the United States, “GOP” is another name for the Republican Party, who will probably not have a very pleasant evening tonight because of these numbers. In the background is a gas station, with pumps and a truck parked next to the pumps. The parking area is mostly empty and gray, with weeds and a sparse treeline. Get out there and make yourselves count, friends. The painting is signed “Chris Silverman”.
