A 1970s advertising product photo shows a man and a woman lying on a circular bed surrounded by entertainment devices. Built into the circular bed are: a TV, a stereo system, and a wet bar.

The ad text reads: "The ultimate in personal environment. Privacy. Comfort. Entertainment. All within your reach. RCA Circle Bed Model CB-1000."
We lost direction as a society when we stopped making these.

(EDIT: Apparently this is AI Slop. Sorry about that. so sad ... )

My last year in college, a friend and I rented an apartment from a known slumlord. It was a decent enough two-bedroom just a couple blocks from campus, and cheap even for off-campus housing at the time. I'm pretty sure it was a handshake lease.

In the apartment below ours were a drug dealer and his girlfriend, who were nice enough and relatively quiet despite the steady stream of visitors. They'd occasionally have very loud sex. When they moved out, they left their queen-sized circular bed behind. My roommate and I briefly considered picking it up and using it as a new sofa, but decided against it because of the stains. They were replaced by a lesbian couple who cleaned the apartment at 9am every Saturday while listening to half of Beck's "Odelay" (just their favorite songs, I guess) at ear-splitting volume so it could be heard over the vacuum. I worked Friday nights until 3 or 4am, so *that* was much appreciated.

Anyway, that's the only time I've ever seen a round bed in the wild.
